Create a collaborative space for a group discussion using an online tool you haven’t used before. Try it out for at least two weeks. After trying it out, compare that experience with the experience you’ve gotten from a collaborative space that you’re more familiar with and have more experience. How does the new space compare? What are similarities? What about differences? Are you ready to switch over? Are there specific circumstances or purposes when that space might work better that overall?

You can view the space here (you have to sign in with your Google account):

Overall, I liked Spaces. The interface was a bit misleading as it relied on icons and was a bit counter-intuitive. However, once you made sense of it, it was easy. I liked that you could share a variety of things (pictures, links, etc) and could comment on what others shared. It did not have all the capabilities of a wiki, but the ease of use made up for it. It followed general structure of post and comment and I really liked the Spaces Activity feed on the right where you can see the latest thoughts by other group members. I also really liked the Mobile app. In fact, it was the best feature of Spaces.

I think the best use of Spaces would be for a collaborative resource gathering and facilitating a conversation about it. The fact that you cannot embed the Space (like in Storify) and can only see the final result if you sign in with Google was a huge downside as it made the Space more of a private affair. So, I will probably not switch to Spaces just yet.
