My project for this class will consist of a unit for a “Student Introduction to Learning with Technology” asynchronous self-paced online module. I plan on making it an open educational resource. I expect the module will have a diverse audience of traditional and non-traditional students ranging from freshman to senior levels. This particular unit will teach about various web-based technologies on the the Internet and how they can help students in their learning process. I plan to complete the entire module during the “Pedagogy” course.
Here is a path I have arrived through to the Big Idea for the unit:
Familiar with: The Internet contains an infinite amount of information and it is expanding exponentially.
Important to know: Which technologies and web-based tools and applications allow to manage and collect information, share it with others, and make connections of people with similar interests.
Big Idea: The Internet is a learning environment.
Enduring Understandings:
- Web-based technologies provide access to educational opportunities for anyone from any place where you have internet access.
- We can learn through the experiences of others shared by the way of web-based services as well as access educational resources from the universities around the world.
- Personally-managed and well-structured digital space allows to successfully organize collected information, collaborate with others, and share your knowledge and experiences back to the community providing educational opportunities for others.
