Download Video Transcrtipt

I decided to continue working on my screencast and make it accessible to everyone. Video tutorials can be very effective. However, they can be absolutely useless for people with hearing loss. By providing closed captioning you not only help hearing impaired, but traditional students who might have trouble with their computer audio, study in a quiet environment, or speak English as a second language. Additionally, if your screencast includes a lot of new or special terminology you can provide audio transcripts along with your video. Transcripts can be downloaded on your computer and printed on paper which can help students with better memorization of the terms. So, in addition to creating closed captions for my screencast, I generated a transcript and made it available for download.

I used YouTube to generate Auto Captions which in my case were atrocious since I have a pretty thick accent. The auto-generated captions also had irregular timings. So I had to manually edit the captions for both, text and timing. Although the fact that I already had something to work with made the task look less daunting, it did not make it easier.
