Reading “Ada or Ardor” by Nabokov. What a racy book! Nabokov mastered erotica without being vulgar. But of course, he is a master. I believe it was published last in his chain of other books. Sex, incest, and a great love story… what’s not to like? I absolutely see how he employed Anna Karenina at the beginning of the book. A woman who broke conventionality and was seen as a fallen woman. Applies to Val and Ada in those terms. I have read his lecture on Anna Karenina and certainly see parallels in terms of breaking the rules. I am only one-third of the way through the book, and it is amazing. You have sympathy for the adolescent lovers. You are rooting for their love. And here is my favorite quote from Nabokov, “Everything in life is beautiful, but man recognizes beauty only when he sees it seldom or from afar.” It resonates not only in regard to Nabokov’s works but also in life as well.

On the other note, Star’s dermatologist charged us a no-show fee even though it was an honest mistake. We spent thousands of dollars there, and they could not waive the fee for an honest mistake? And they could not even call to ask why we did not show up at the time of the appointment. They know we always show up. Needless to say, I am looking for another dermatologist. Fuck them. Not that they will suffer. They have plenty of other patients. I am livid.

Anyhow, I don’t need additional stress in my life right now.

Over and out.
