Opee got attacked by a vicious pit bull. It was horrible. The owner was completely unresponsible and sat on a bench with its leash under his foot. Of course, when the pit bull lunched towards Opee the leash just came out from under the foot as pit bulls are all muscles and pretty powerful. I have never seen such a vicious attack. I was screaming and kicking the put bull trying to get him away from Opee but he just keep coming and coming like a killing machine. Finally, the owner decided to jump it. Before that, he just sat there calling, “Prince, Prince.”  After he finally jumped in we were both rolling on the ground trying to separate them. Opee’s leg got punctured pretty deep and long. We had to go to the emergency vet (who is super expensive!) as scheduling an appointment with the regular vet on the same day is impossible and I did to want it to get infected. $600 later and 6 stitches ($100 a stitch) he is finally home with a lot of painkillers and antibiotics. His muscle is bruised as well from the impact. They put a cone on him but he was so traumatized from the experience at the vet that he just shook, tail between his legs just standing and staring at the wall. I felt utterly helpless. They had to put him under because he was fighting them hard and got into huge distress. He is not allowing anyone to touch or approach him from behind but me. He was a stray before I adopted him and was attacked on the streets (he has scars). I think the attack came from behind… I am the only person he trusts which makes my heart melt but makes it super difficult at the vet. They usually have to put a muzzle on him for vaccinations.

Anyhow, I am now afraid of pit bulls. Boris, my previous doggo was attacked by a pit bull as well. Fortunately without injuries. The owner was the same way: just sat there calling, “Princess, Princes” until I was screaming and kicking the pit bull. What’s up with those royalty names for vicious pit bulls?

Anyhow, I took the cone off Opee during the day at home but the smarty pants figured out that if he goes to a different room while I am working he can lick his stitches all he wants. Don’t get a smart dog. They are a pain in the arse.

And it has been raining here, so I had to do something to protect his stitches. I went to every pet store in town and no one had raincoats. Garbage bag to the rescue! He looks like a superman with a garbage bag cape. So ghetto fabulous!

That is pretty much what occupies my life right now. No social events, no spending time by myself away from my doggo for 14 days. He is glued to my leg including the trips to the bathroom. But I don’t mind much. I love him and would do anything for him!
