Hi, my name is Tatiana and I am excited to be a part of this program and looking forward to working with all of you! I have lived in Alaska (on and off) for twenty years and although I came here from a different country, it is Fairbanks that I consider to be my home. I spend a lot of time outside, regardless of temperatures—hiking, running, skiing with my dog, Boris, who is my partner in crime. Last year I started a photography project using very simple 120 mm plastic Holga camera. I enjoy the unpredictability of results of this “point and shoot” apparatus that lacks the fine controls that digital cameras have nowadays. I also enjoy working with a real film instead of digital files maybe because i work with technology on daily bases. I believe there is beauty in simplicity. Below are some pictures I took for this project:

Hi Tatiana,
Yes! Another dog lover. 🙂 Boris looks like great company and I’m sure neither of you perpetrate any crimes. Ringo and I however… that could be another story.
Your photos are great. Interesting perspective and use of black and white images. I look forward to seeing more and being in the program with you.
I will admit to feeling a bit intimidated when I learned that a valued mentor would be a student of mine, but I realized that this will always be the case no matter who is taking what course. We all have expertise to offer, and we all have much to learn from each other. One of the not-so-subtle subtexts for ED 431 is the flattening of the top-down instructor-led model that has always been prevalent in higher education in favor of a cohort-based model in which we are all equal participants. Your presence here will contribute significantly to that.
Skip you are too kind! i never see myself as a mentor but always as a student. And every time i have a conversation with you i learn a lot! I especially look forward to picking your brain about a theory of a classroom (digital or physical) serving as a boundary of learning instead of a starting point.
Tatiana, your site certainly exemplifies your belief that there is beauty in simplicity. That is so true here! Your gifts are obviously many, and I look forward to your future posts.
