Moods:
Angry — Mutter, Ramstein (always a pleasure to hear them. I even incorporated their remix in my set when I was DJing); Injustice for all, Metallica (do I need to say more?); White America, Eminem (I really like Eminem. He has a bunch of angry songs but I thought this one was appropriate for political climate now).
Hungry (this was a hard one) — Strawberry Fields Forever — The Beatles (ya, that’s dessert); Hangry like the wolf, Duran Duran (the band that made it to Russia in pirated cassette tapes, and since then it is a trip to a memory lane); Cinnamon Girl — Neil Young (I rebelled and absolutely got his greatest hit LP so it was fresh in my memory).
Happy — Dancing Queen, Abba (every single Russian danced to this song!); Holiday, Madonna (Ok another one of “do I need to say more?); Don’t Worry, Be Happy — Bobby McFerrin (the obvious choice!).
Sad — Everybody Hurts, REM (also an obvious one. REM has been out of the picture for some time so I consider it Oldie but Goldie); Midnight Sonata, Beethoven (why not spice it up with classical music?); Send in the Clowns, Frank Sinatra (another goldie but oldie. you cannot deny the man has amazing voice and swagger).
Lustful — Horny, Mouse T (another one that made it to my set while I was DJing); Sex Machine, James Brown (if you lust that one is a quintessential horny song!); Can’t Get Enough, Barry White (every song of his is lustful. Perfect music to make out to).
Mad (not to be confused with Angry) — Freak, Radiohead (ya, one of my favorite bands. one of my favorite songs), Living’ La Vida Loca, Ricky Martin (had to include this one as it truly makes me mad. I know it’s an odd one but what the hell). Bat out of Hell, Meatloaf (one-hit wonder made it. again in Russia he was super popular so there it is as I know his songs).
Thank god for a cell phone. I really could not carry a boombox with me and I don’t have cassettes although it would have been great fun. Technology man is fickle.
