Today’s task was to “bury a treasure.”
First, I had to identify what I want to bury. I decided on my Haruki Murakami collection (pic included) because I am running out of space on my bookshelf (the books are stacked twice on each shell). My thought was that in 20 years I can unbury it and read it again. The guy is a genius and deserves to be treasured. So, firstly I went on a walk with Opee to scout a memorable site. I decided on a beautiful willow not far away from where I live because chances are it won’t be cut as it is just too beautiful and I would always remember where it is (here they prune trees all the time in parks). Secondly, I had to find a shovel (did not want to have one though as I probably won’t have to use it again and it will just take space in my closet next to my vacuum cleaner). Of course, I went to Freds as there you can buy anything from beets (for my borsh) to underwear (which sometimes I need especially going on a date. I am talking about the lacy ones). So, I had to think quickly as to what would be a substitute for a shovel. While at home I thought of a spoon but it is raining and I would get totally soaked as it would take a long time to dig. So I opted for a garden section and got a little (I don’t know how to describe it) hole digger. Now all I have to do is put a plastic bag around the books (because plastic stays forever) for which I used one from Costco’s chicken. Finally, $4.99 proved useful! As I said, it is raining now which is actually an upside as the earth is not solid as on non-rainy days. And there you go. I’ll see you in 20 years Haruki.
