Today’s task was “to expand my vocabulary.” I chose to use the alphabet for this and then look up random words starting with the letters. I won’t burden you with the whole alphabet but some gems instead. The selection was to randomly put my finger while my eyes were shut on the dictionary:
D- Duenna: elderly woman chaperone (since I am one foot into the elderly world this might prove useful)
G- Galumph: move about clumsily (totally me after returning home from a party)
J- Jeremiad: long complaint (should be interesting to say that to my boss)
P- Poetaster: bad poet (well, this one is random. But I do know one bad poet who hits people to buy his books)
S- Shibboleth: slogan characteristic of a particular group (always wanted to know this one because it is used for security authentication on the net)
U-Uxorious: too dependent on one’s wife (this one is good to know)
V-Vermiform: resembling a worm (hm… not sure if it applies to humans or animals)
Z-Zoophyte: any animal resembling a plant (this one was totally a surprise seeing how it comes from a plant side right after the worm side)
Live and learn people. Live and learn.
