Today’s task was a “random day.” This will be a long post as there are many instructions:
1. Count the number of buses you see on a walk — That was 5. some were school buses and some public transportation. I saw them only because we walked on sidewalks and not the urban trails. I had to prepare for this one and mapped the route beforehand. of course, Opee did not know that and totally resisted as it was not one of his routes. The boy has specific pooping grounds he visits on urban trails walk so he was frantic as he did not know which bush to poop at. never the less, I prevailed and did not give in to his demands. It was also training for him when I go to Chicago and he will have a babysitter. I am sure she would not hike with him for two hours. Anyhow, back to the busses.
2. Multiply this number by three: 45 and divide it by 2: 22.5. Good so far. Let’s see what comes next.
3. Buy as many candy bars — Well it is not an even number. I got Snickers (which I thought everyone would like). However, I had to eat half of one to make the 22.5. That was my lunch. delicious.
4. Hand them out randomly to different people — I decided to walk my piglet at noon. By my estimation, there would be the biggest number of people walking their dogs at lunch break. I was right!
5. Write down what they tell you on a piece of paper — I chose to do it in Excell. I am a super overachiever. Here is a count of “no, thanks” — 5. Bewildered looks of fear (like the candy bars were poisoned. reminds me of the rules of Halloween (only hand out packaged by the store ones. no baked goods). I think they forgot about this safety net. — 3. “Thanks (also with bewildered looks) — 10. The 3.5 ones were leftovers as I did not see any more people on the walk so I decided to eat them for dinner. Plus, handing out a half candy bar might get a super negative response starting with “f” followed by “y.”
6. Fold the paper and put them in an envelope — Done. Easy peasy as I had a crap load of envelopes left over from the “mail junk mail” task.
7. (That one was unexpected) — Find the random address in the telephone directory — who has phone books anymore? But thank you information super highway! I googled yellow pages for Portland and came to a screen that required entering a name and zip. I thought of the name and decided on Jon Snow (thank you game of thrones!). This gave me odd results for everyone with the last name snow. I selected Hal Snow because my license plate has hal on it prefixed by 907 (i swear I did not bribe the car salesman who sold me this car and kept me at the dealership for 2 hours thinking I would break. And no, he did not waterboard me but it was torture nevertheless).
8. Stamp the envelope and send it to this person — I was in luck because I still had some stamps left over from the previous “mail coupons” task and because not many people for some reason wanted an x-mas card from me… I did put my address on the envelope because I wanted to see if they will write back.
I guess now it is a waiting game. It’s ok, I am patient.
