The Summer started today at 78F after yesterday’s 63F. This tells me that this Summer as the last Summer would be super hot. This Saturday they expect 91F and Sunday 95F… I dread the day. However, my home is still cool as it is in the shade of trees so I might not even have to turn the air conditioning on which came with my home. Yes, I bought it in October and yes, I am a newly minted owner of a condo. It was all I could afford comfortably as a first-time homebuyer. But I am not regretting it. It has everything I need although it is only a little bit over 700 feet. It is two bedrooms and finally, I have a separate room for my studio and for the guests that potentially visit. I already had one. My dear friend Laura who I love with all my heart. 5 days of smoking and drinking margaritas or coffee on the porch, wonderful conversations, making art every day (she is also an artist) and then watching a good movie before bed. We took turns proposing one. Even went to the Portland Museum of Art to see the Frida Khalo exhibit which unfortunately was closed that day for unknown reasons. Figures. We decided to explore other exhibits in this museum and Ancient Chinese art was marvelous. The rest sucked and was a huge disappointment. Or maybe our standards were too high. In the end, we got lost in the maze of this museum and were trying to find the exit. It took us 30 minutes and the discomfort of claustrophobia. The pinnacle of the trip was fresh oysters in a nearby restaurant. Even though the temperature was in the high 50s we still sat outside and watched swanky yuppies pass by. Of course, we were judging as most of them looked the same (men–beard and a man bun for the hair, women — tight pants and sneakers).

We took a train there as I live right by the MAX station. It was wonderful to watch Portland out of widow just passing by. Plus we both love train rides. We even explored an option to get from here to Chicago where my dear friend is moving because of her aging parents. I never thought this day would come as my friend is a hard-core Alaskan. But you have to do what you have to do. And it is a very selfless act to take care of her parents in spite of the fact that she loves Alaska very much. Of course, it would be the first visit to her house. And yes, I will take a train there. The saving grace is that Chicago is full of amazing museums which I plan to explore when I visit. Especially Degas.

That is my exciting news and future endeavors. Over and out.
