Today’s task was to “send a letter to someone at random with a photo of yourself, a $5, no explanation, and no sender’s address. See what happens.”
So, the most difficult job of this was to find a random address. I googled the random address and came across this little site that lets you generate one: https://www.randomlists.com/random-addresses Perfect. So far so good. Then came a strenuous task of my photo. I debated if I should send an older pic (without wrinkles) or my current state of affairs. I decided on my FB pic. Then, of course, I had to print it. Another trip to the office. Hopefully, no one recognizes me behind the mask! It helps that it is Friday and people are pretty much checked out. The next difficulty was to get a physical $5 bill. Who carries cash anymore? So, I remembered that when my wallet was stolen I had to extract cash from my bank account so that I can buy shit like food which is essential to my survival. And sure enough, there was a leftover 3 $5 bills. Thank you wallet for helping me out. I totally forgot about you! Next, I had to emulate the letter as a ransom note (might as well as I am sending it out there into the sea of Postal Service). Thank god for Art Forum magazine which mostly publishes shitty contemporary work along with art critics’ BS. You can mentally jerk off but in the end, it does not make the art great… So, I cut out the letters and composed a message. The message, “Hi, you might not know me thus the likeness of me. It is in black and white so I hope you forgive me for not distinguishing between my color. Not be a bad thing. Love everyone kind of thing. I am enclosing a $5. Spend it as you wish. It might buy you a gallon of gasoline. You are welcome! I hope you drive somewhere nice on this gallon. I recommend the seashore. The zen kind of thing. Sincerely, mysterious stranger.”
Now I wait again (common book, throw me a bone!). There is always a return-to-sender thing. Good luck finding me as I really wish I can get that $5 back so that I can go to a seashore myself.
