Today’s task was to “learn some Swedish.”
I started with easy ones that could be as introductory phrases:
1. Hello — Halia
2. My name is — Mitt namn ar…
3. Nice meeting you — Trevlight att rakas
Then I thought to move to more complex ones. This is what I selected as you never know what will become useful in the future:
1. There is a Smurf buried in my butter — Del ligger en begravd i amor. (you never know what will happen in a Swedish restaurant).
2. I am a tiger. Only kidding! I used to be a tiger but I’m not anymore — Jag ar en tiger. Nej, skojar bara! Jag bruhade vara en tiger men inte langre. (great conversation opener).
3. That gargoyle is very contemporary — Den dar gargolen ar mycket modern. (if you end up in an art gallery in Sweden).
4. I am on the market for some Bolivian alabaster — Jar gapa marknaden for att hitta lite Bolivisk alabaster. (Got to load up on art supplies. Maybe I’ll switch from 2-D to 3-D).
5. There’s bunch of daffodils on the rampage — Ett gang mask rosor har blivit tokiga och mordar folk. (Seeing how it is spring and they are everywhere I can warn a Swedish person about the takeover).
Then I learned how to count to ten — Ett, Tva, Tre, Fyra, Fem, Sex (my favorite one), Sju, Atta, Nio, Tio.
Now I am versatile in conversing in Swedish. Take that Duolingo Opee was accepting of me talking to him in Swedish as baby talk. That’s all that matters.
