The heat wave is coming. The entire week is 100F or over. When I moved here. 9 years ago the summers were in the low 70s, sometimes 80s. And it would rain incrementally. Now heat waves are common and last for quite some time and so is drought.

I have read an interesting article in the Atlantic about climate changing patterns and the scientist said that this summer could be the coolest before the scorching future ones starting next year. In England, scientists made a prediction for 2050 about rising temperatures. Guess what… It is already happening today in 2022. I can only imagine what will then happen in 2050. I also listened to a podcast about changing climate. Both in the article and the podcast scientists did not mention a human-made disaster (only briefly in regards to it being an accelerant). They talked about how our Earth is going through cycles climate-wise and always had and not only that but it also affected the species and their adaptation to a different climate creating mutant species. Some would not adopt and will go extinct. Will humanity adopt? Granted we have air conditioning but people might not be able to go outside during the day (not to mention dogs). Our sleep-wake cycles might change and our lives will start existing in the dark. Would our vision improve and we will be able to see clearly in the dark like bats? Of course, it will take many many years for the changes to take effect vision wise but living in the dark is probably not too far in the future.

To conclude, climate change is moving way faster than anyone predicted. And at this speed, we don’t know what kind of Earth we will leave to our children.

Over.
