imageThe main goal of this week is to understand the difference between authentic content and remixed content on the Internet and responsibilities that come with using someone else’s work.

Learning Objectives

  • Distinguish between original and remixed material on the Internet.
  • Recognize copyright violations when you are borrowing someone else’s work.
  • Explain the concept of recycling the old culture to make a new one.

Intro to Digital Literacy

Digital technology allows us to tell stories, demonstrate our understanding through a recording of concepts, and create work that represents our own point of view among many other things. The goals of this module are to expose students to the following concepts:

  1. All information on the internet is accessed and gathered from multiple points of views and perspectives in an extensive range of ways that need to be managed.
  2. The Internet provides tools to produce work representing your own point of view (artifacts) through multi-media authoring tools for text, images, audio and video production.
  3. The Internet provides access to not only information but networks of people and online communities with whom you communicate, collaborate and share your ideas and work.

This particular section deals with the second concept/understanding: “Internet provides tools to produce work representing your own point of view (artifacts) through multi-media authoring tools for text, images, audio and video production.”
